Sustainable Living
In complete harmony with nature, Clinton Shores is a true water self-sustainable residential development, the first to be passed by SA Water in South Australia, something we are rather proud of.

In a unique design at Clinton Shores, rainwater is collected by each home in a managed system that provides for long-term reliable water supply over decades. If a home using this technology had been built at Clinton Shores in 1945, and the full water allocation used each day, by March 2010 the home would never have run out of water. An intelligent water manager does all water use calculations for you, allowing you to use water in your home in the normal manner. The water saving is equivalent to some 250,000L per annum per household, with no demand on the River Murray.
All rainwater is filtered and UV sterilized to give completely clear, soft, odour and organochloride free water to your home.
Imagine… having a shower in soft clear water….bottled-water quality coming out of your taps.
No Government water restrictions apply, and there are no SA Water rates.
The graph below shows the rainwater use and water tank volume for a 'home' built at Clinton Shores in '2006', with full water use every day. The intelligent controller automatically adjusts for changes in rainfall, ensuring that you would not run out of water, even through the worst drought in history.

The water controller requires the home owner to do no calculations, measure how much water is remaining, calculate rainfall, or even use numbers! It represents the water use per day by a simply big bar graph that starts at zero at midnight each day, increasing towards its recommended water use for that day as you use water.

Effluent Treatment
Each allotment has its own effluent treatment system, allowing you to use all your own used water to irrigate a garden that will remain green year round. Even when you go away, the water controller will keep the garden green, ready for when you return. There is no effluent outflow or municipal treatment required.
All used water is recycled only to the garden for irrigation. No water is required to be recycled to the home for any reason. You do not have to drink or use recycled water.

Solar Energy Collection
Many homes now utilise solar energy for hot water, home heating, and electricity generation. The unique design of rainwater tanks at Clinton Shores results in a low profile tank of less than fence height, but with a large roof area, which is also used to collect rainwater. The cover of the tank is structural, enabling solar panels to be mounted on the water tank roof, rather than on the dwelling roof, creating a clean roof profile. Capable of always facing due North, the solar panels can operate at maximum efficiency, with lower maintenance costs than high roof locations.
